Our TRAVEL ROUTE
Our first stop was Antalya, a coastal town in southern Turkey. We stayed in the outskirts of Antalya, Muratpaşa where we to booked an incredible Airbnb apartment with hosts Robin & Feriha. Each morning we would have breakfast on their top floor balcony and just gaze down the coastline, it was really breathtaking.
Upon departing Antalya there was a torrential downpour and it felt like it was meant to be that we leave for somewhere else chasing the sunshine.
Cappadocia was to be our next stop and this was a place both me and Kim have wanted to go for quite some time. The landscape is very moon-like but also there are some very surreal rock formations which tower up from the ground like giant mushrooms. Cappadocia, known for the spectacular amounts of hot air balloon rides that float over the Goreme landscape. We were unfortunate not to get booked in time for a ride due to bad weather and an enormous waiting list. Instead, we did something I think was much more fun anyway, we went scrambling through the Goreme National Park on quad bikes!
Although our time was short in Cappadocia it was certainly a top highlight in Turkey for us, and I know we would go back in a heartbeat.
Onto our final destination, Istanbul, which is such an enormous and insanely busy city we knew there was not enough time to visit everything we wanted to see. We decided to take it easy and actually take in the culture and atmosphere without rushing around cramming in as much as possible.
